Loop Systems for the Hearing Impaired

A loop listening system consists of a "loop" wire that is placed around the listening area, a special amplifier, and a microphone for the primary speaker. Speech signals are amplified and circulated through the loop wire. The resulting energy field is picked up and amplified by the telecoil found in many hearing aids, cochlear implants and tactile devices or by portable induction receivers. The end result is high quality amplified reproduction of the original speech signal. Intelligibility is greatly increased because the distance between the speaker and listened is bridged and background environmental noise is dramatically reduced.
